Congratulations and Good Luck to Natalie of Hugo, MN!
"Pete" is a very nice 10 year old
hunter under saddle gelding. He is a fun horse that will teach a rider to be
correct. He has TONS of professional training - he was trained by Val Vetos (WSCA Judge, Nationally known dressage rider,
and coach/trainer of many western pleasure/HUS breed show and WSCA Champ Show winners) for several YEARS.
Pete is one of the nicest trotting
horses that you can find. Judges can't get enough of him and often stare at him. They almost always come up to me and comment on his trot! Some of their comments include "a freakishly cool trot" and "one of the nicest trotting horses they've I've seen
in a long time." This horse has the movement and breeding to be a winner!
He has mostly been shown in local WSCA
shows. WSCA is a great organization and TOP shows. It's an open show circuit, but the top (yes congress and
world show competitors participate in WSCA) quarter horses, paints, arabians, saddlebreds, appaloosas, and
more all come together to show. It's real show people!
He comes out of almost every english pleasure
class with a blue ribbon. We did show at the Minnesota State Fair in the AQHA
show and came home with 3rd place ribbons under both judges. This
horse has the ability to win AQHA classes. I showed him with only riding him
once every few weeks. If ridden regularly his canter will be a little slower
and he will win the big shows.
He has only been shown in one AQHA show
due to the fact that I hold a judges card and can't show as an amateur. This horse can do VERY well in AQHA and
can really rack up the points with an amateur or youth rider.
Pete is also a very nice showmanship horse. He is very attentive to his handler and performs beautiful pivots. He also is a great pattern horse for the equitation classes.
He is confident and calm when off of the rail and will do whatever you ask. He
side passes, pivots on HQ and forehand, performs simple lead changes, and flying with an advanced rider.
Pete is a good trail horse too. We even competed in a novice endurance ride this past spring (only 12 miles), but he did great and was
never spooky. He will cross logs, water, and climb hills.
He
also has been over a few jumps, but needs a rider with steady hands and a confident seat.
I did start him over some jumps, and would do great in hunter hack. He also competed in a schooling dressage
show and received a 7 on his working trot and an 8 on his canter. He could be a very nice dressage/pony club pony -
but honestly is most naturally a hunt seat horse.
Pete would do best with an owner that has
some experience or will have a trainer helping. The only reason for this is because
he has a tendancy to do what his rider tells him to do - regardless of whether it's what they really want! He works
very hard to make his rider/handler happy - he really is a people pleaser! He is very safe and would is great for learning
on. Pete LOVES kids (see my 2 y/o in the pics with him). He would
do excellent with a beginner rider if they are calm and relaxed. My 2 year
old daughter rides him all over the farm and at shows without any troubles. When
she gets out of balance he will stop though and refuse to move! He walks very
carefully with her on – even when she’s riding with me! She has even
accidently walked under his belly numerous times and he tolerates her grooming his legs/belly very well.
Pete has superb breeding. He was sired by “The Epitome” a 13 time World Champion pleasure sire! The Epitome has sired, out of a meer 160 total foals, (average of 18.6 points per foal). He has sired
earners of over 4,069 points in AOHA, and 2,566 points in AQHA show arena's, 33 Superiors in Pleasure, 71 ROM's, 3 AQHA Champions,
1 Versatility Award, 137 All Around titles, and 129 Reserve All Around titles to date (1/01/04). There have been several more AQHA points and champions since that information was published. Visit:
Broodmares to see the information from Blue Mound Quarter Horses (BMQ) on his sire.
He is a super healthy horse who requires
minimal care. He does not require shoes (even when trail riding) and
is current on vaccinations/coggins. He was originally kept in a stall/paddock,
but since I purchased him he’s been kept out on pasture. He does great
either way. Since he’s been on pasture, he even does great at shows when
its windy, raining, or there are flies!
He is really a wonderful horse and
deserves a loving home that will use him to his fullest potential. Only for sale because I am applying for my WSCA judges
card this summer and will be limited on the number of shows I can attend. I also have purchased his two year
old half brother (that's how much I've enjoyed this horse) to start a new project.
